Cupping is a wonderfully effective therapy to release restrictions in fascia, scar tissue, and stubborn adhesions.
Cupping is a type of manual therapy that uses negative pressure to mobilize and hydrate soft tissue by increasing localized blood flow and opening lymphatic pathways. Cups are placed on the skin to increase blood flow in the area and to draw up stagnant fluid from deep within the tissue so it can be released and processed. Increased local blood supply to the soft tissue will bring nourishment and allow for toxins to be carried away via the lymphatic system. Massage Cupping uses suction to lift tissue as the cup moves over the skin. This creates space and separation in the tissues that allows bodywork to be more effective and comfortable. It can also be used in conjunction with a more active massage therapy to mobilize tissues under the “pinning” of the cup. Tense muscles soften quickly and easily under the negative pressure. Cupping is an effective and non-invasive enhancement to hands-on manual therapy techniques.
